Whats Up With Spencer Pratt’s New Cowboy Style?

Posted by: Lauren

October 8th, 2009

Heidi Montag expressed concern for husband Spencer Pratt’s new cowboy hat in the trailer for the new “Hills” episodes. He’s been seen all over Los Angeles rocking the hat, and he seems pretty comfortable in the Western gear — but his friends don’t quite get it.

Kristin Cavallari just sort of laughed the fashion statement off in her devil-may-care style. And former bro Brody Jenner can’t quite figure out what Spencer is up to now that he’s in his wild, wild West phase of life.

“Every time I go to film or I’m filming with somebody else, I hear stories that Spencer’s wearing cowboy hats all the time now and wearing charms, some kind of necklaces,” he told MTV News. “I’ve heard a lot of things, but I haven’t been able to see it myself.”

Little sister Stephanie Pratt thinks the whole cowboy look is just odd. “It’s really fun to make fun of him lately. … I go over to their house, and I’m like, ‘Spencer, stop going through Heidi’s clothes.’ It’s really fun,” she said. “He says the cowboy hat is, like, a gift from Dad and blah blah blah, but he’s, like, getting really scary.”

It seems Spencer is the only one who doesn’t see what the big deal is. “Well, it was because my new father-in-law gave it to me, and he gave it to me with such a serious speech connected to it [about] how much it truly meant to him and his life and everything,” Pratt explained. “For me, it wasn’t really more a fashion statement — it was more something for my father-in-law.”

Episode one of the hills without Lauren Conrad

kristincavallari

Well, we’re only one episode of Kristin Cavallari-centric “Hills” deep, and I already miss Lauren Conrad.

Which is odd, I know, because let’s face it — Lauren wasn’t adding a whole bunch to the show toward the end of last season, complacently sifting through clothes racks at People’s Revolution and constantly being forced into awkward situations with frenemy Heidi.

But there was something about Lauren’s calm demeanor and subtle eye rolls that endeared her to me. Perhaps the part of her life she revealed on the show wasn’t all that dramatic, but it never seemed like she was spewing outright lies.

Enter Kristin, wearing daisy dukes and very high heels while hopping out of her summer Malibu rental and into her shiny black BMW convertible.

Last week, Kristin admitted she will “pretty much do anything” the producers want her to do on the show. The first of which seems to be feigning romantic interest in resident bad boy Justin Bobby.

There is just no way I can believe that Kristin actually finds JB attractive. Reality check — she has dated the chiseled Brody Jenner and clean-cut “Final Destination” star Nick Zano. They don’t exactly have the snarly beard, suspenders and combat boot look going on.

“He’s so not your type!” I pressed when we met last week at Magnolia restaurant in Hollywood.

“He is a good-looking guy,” she insisted. “No, he’s not someone I typically would go after, but I do have to say after getting to know him a little bit on the show, he’s a good guy.”

Okay. But even if Kristin hypothetically were into JB, her constant Audrina name-dropping made the entire setup feel all too fake.

“How do you think Audrina’s going to feel about us going on a date?” she asked coyly when Justin offered to take her on the back of his motorcycle.

“I think Audrina is still in love with you,” she later said nonchalantly over dinner with Justin at STK. (Honestly, producers? Are we meant to believe a trendy Hollywood steakhouse is JB’s number one choice for a dinner date?)

Justin proceeds to tell Kristin that Audrina was never his girlfriend and that the pair were never exclusive. Is that really supposed to be a huge revelation? Audrina spent an entire season pleading with Justin to make things official. When he refused to put a label on things, she kept seeing him and tried to convince herself and her friends she was OK dating without labels — which she clearly never was.

And in the season opener, at least, it really appears that she’s still in love with Justin.

When Stephanie abruptly dropped the bomb that Kristin and Justin may have gone home together, Audrina’s face instantly dropped and her eyes welled up. Yikes.

Plus, “the stage five clinger,” as bartender Stacie deemed her, prematurely flipped out on Kristin within a couple of minutes of her arrival at the pool party at the London West Hollywood Hotel. I mean, Justin was the one who approached Kristin, and the two had barely exchanged a couple of faux-flirty words before Audrina and sidekick-to-everyone Stephanie got up in Kristin’s face.

“I’m sorry I walked up here and you guys came at me like piranhas,” Kristin said.

“You need to respect Audrina, bottom line,” Stephanie shouted back at her. No wonder she’s ready to exit the show at the end of this season — all of her story lines involve being obsessed with her friends lives instead of her own!

Meanwhile, Spencer and Heidi’s house-hunting pursuits somehow ended up seeming like the most realistic events of the evening. First the pair headed to a suburban house in Brentwood. Spencer wore an interesting get-up, composed of a cowboy hat and boots and a flannel shirt — Poppa Montag’s style influence on his new son-in-law must have been far-reaching.

Despite Heidi’s insistence upon a cozy home with a room for a nursery, Spencer settles upon a modern, glass-filled house perched below the Hollywood sign. I’ll take it that means the children discussion is on hold until that visit to Kitson Baby later in the season.

So, weigh in: Did Kristin’s much-hyped debut live up to your expectations, or did her entrance fall flat? Do you think she and Justin Bobby will make a real love connection? And will Heidi succeed in persuading Spencer to start a family by the end of the season? Chime in below in the comment section.

Stephanie Pratt says she’s quitting ‘The Hills’

Posted by: Lauren

September 29th, 2009

stephaniepratt
The new season of “The Hills” with Kristin Cavallari debuts tonight on MTV — but the show may be over before it even begins.

Stephanie Pratt, Spencer’s sister, says she won’t return to the reality show after this season’s 10 episodes. She also told Hollyscoop that Lo Bosworth, Lauren Conrad’s best friend, may also be exiting.

News comes on the heels of Audrina Patridge’s announcemement last month that she’s “almost done” filming the series and will move on to develop her own reality show with “Survivor” producer Mark Burnett.

“I don’t know how much more I can take of ‘The Hills,’ Pratt said. “It is very brutal. … It’s not because of Kristin. I was going to stay and see what happens after these 10 episodes, but I just don’t think I can stand ‘The Hills’ anymore.”

[Update 5:24 p.m.: In an e-mail to ShowTracker, a rep for Pratt wrote: “At this point Stephanie isn’t certain whether or not she’ll be returning next season. Her focus is on this season’s show.”

Yikes! Is anyone left? It certainly looks like the drama in “The Hills” could be coming to a close.

Through her publicist, Pratt could not be reached for comment. Earlier this summer, she posed in a bikini on the cover of US Weekly next to a headline reading “‘The Hills’ Made Me Bulimic.’ ”

What do you think? Could “The Hills” survive without the girls we’ve all come to know and love? Would you watch the “Spencer and Heidi” show?

The Hills Salaries Exposed

So how much do the cast of the hill make per episode?
hills-reality-tv-stars-gallery-launch_042617332816
“Cavallari is being paid $90,000 an episode, which is almost as much as Conrad was making: $125,000 an episode (or $2.5 million a year), according to a person with knowledge of the show’s contracts. Conrad’s deal stipulated that no other star’s salary could match hers while she was on The Hills, but those of supporting cast members Audrina Patridge, Lauren “Lo” Bosworth, and Montag come close: $100,000 a show. As for Pratt, his rate is a slightly less at $65,000 per show, because he only joined as a regular in 2008. (In comparison, the stars of The Real Housewives series receive a reported $30,000 a show.) In the case of Brody Jenner, Conrad’s BFFWB (Best Friend Forever With Benefits), he takes in $45,000. Read the rest here

Season 3 Episode 14: Forgive and Forget

Posted by: Lauren

November 13th, 2007

I had to make sure to write at least a little something about this episode since it’s so huge. Episode starts off leading towards a juicy confrontation when Lauren and Whitney are asked to cover and event for Teen Vogue by the boss herself Lisa Love. By the way I’m sure the producers had Lisa come in herself and hand her the invitation which I doubt would ever happen. Whatever, I’ll try to not pick at the show.

So Whitney and Lauren get to the party which is that big declare yourself event and they JUST miss the new girl and Heidi.

Flash over to the date between Justin Bobby and Audrina. All I remember is some burping.

Back to the party…
THE BIG CONFRONTATION?! nope.
Heidi comes up and they just jump right into it. Heidi starts off polite, Lauren jumped right into “If you want to apologize I’ll talk to you.” Initially I’m like, ouch bitch… what happened to courtesy? Then I remembered as they go on with the confrontation that big sex tape thing and how Spencer and Heidi have caused alot of pain in Lauren’s life. Then I take back that “ouch, bitch” comment. It was a short confrontation but good I suppose.

Over to Audrina’s little bit in the show. So she’s got her new job not just as a receptionist but helps out with artists and was at the Jimmy Kimmel show with her co-worker who wisely suggests that Audrina should not call Justin and that she cannot go out with him that night. It’ll all be okay. So things are moving up in Audrina’s “job” which I heard she doesn’t even have but once again that’s just something I heard. I’ll just believe the tv and she is excited about her work especially after she receives some flowers from Sean Kingston who she was working with at the Jimmy Kimmel show.

NOW the big confrontation.
… yet there is still more leading up to eat. I think the instant messenger conversation on tv and showing each girl typing was priceless. nowwwww at the end of the show we’ve got the good stuff.
First off, Heidi was nice enough to meet at Lauren’s apartment and even brought her flowers.

So they Heidi wants to try and work it out and Lauren makes sure that Heidi knows exactly what Spencer’s effect and role in this whole thing has been. It’s obviously not just an issue between Lauren and Heidi yet Spencer has creep’d in there and spread some stink around.

They discuss it all yet I wanted to take out some good quotes.

Heidi: “I’m not saying that Spencer is an angel”

Hahahah yeah we all knew that, and then she goes onto apologize and say she didn’t come to fight and wanted to try and put this all behind them.

Lauren shoots back with quite possibly the quote of the season.

“I want to forgive you… and I want to forget you”

ouuuuch.

Heidi responds with her own little graceful stab, saying something along the lines as
“Yeah, well your apartment looks good, have a nice life.”

And there ya have it. An episode that took a long time to stew and manifest itself into the drama filled television well all love to watch. Thanks Lauren and Heidi… and the rest of the crew. This was a keeper.

Season 3 Episode 11: No More Mr. Nice Guy

Posted by: Lauren

October 22nd, 2007

I’m going to cover the second half of this episode right now since I just finished watching it, the second half is always the best anyways.

Turns out Heidi is a working woman now and doesn’t seem to have much more time for Spencer anymore. Boo hoo. All relationships have problems especially when one person works and the other person does…. what exactly? We don’t really know. (here’s some ideas) I will say that Heidi looked hot in those ‘business’ clothes. That’s enough of that.

Crazy danny roll it is. What a coincidence that everything is so crazy. First it looks like she’s having a hard time eat that nice piece of sushi, then comes the forced awkwardness that tv is so great for. Lauren unintentionally spews that she’s had some bad dates and that the guys start out normal yet end up being really crazy. Then it looked as though the date bombed and guess who comes back into the picture? Lauren calls Brody the moment she gets home. I feel a little sorry for Gavin since he was perceived as boring. The end of Lauren and Jason was right at about… “He’s a nice guy… but no sparks.” Bummer.

So who is their sparks between? I’m sure you all saw the little smug smiles and nose laughs between Brody and Lauren. It was actually awesome when Brody asked “What movie?” and Lauren responds, “Does it really matter?” AWESOME. There’s some stuff brewing there. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Season 3 Cram Session

Posted by: Lauren

October 8th, 2007

Monday’s Hills’ was a nice recap of the first half of the season. Can you believe it’s half over? Sometimes I wonder how we already got to Season 3 of The Hills. Seriously Lauren has been on tv for a long time now and is arguably the biggest star off of Laguna Beach. The Hills is one of MTV’s most popular shows right now which is awesome for the girls… and I suppose all of us since it’s on all the time.

This episode in a nutshell hit all the big drama points… you know sex tape… uhh Spencer and Heidi engagement… Jason and his engagement.. and the list goes on. You know it all if you’ve been paying attention; if not you can catch up like I do over here on MTV.com to watch the full episodes.

What I really wanted to mention is how big Lauren and all the girls are right now. Heidi was just on the cover of a magazine and Lauren has her own this month and I briefly saw Audrina on one. I was in a rush at the grocery store so I wasn’t really paying attention. If you guys know, let me know and I’ll post it up.

One final note, I just discovered MTV’s Remote Control blog which has a category dedicated to The Hills. If you already know, props. If you haven’t heard, give it a click and you’ll see it’s a great blog.

Season 3 Episode 8

Posted by: Lauren

September 25th, 2007

I’ll toss some thoughts up here right quick and follow up later.

A) Whitney did good at her job but needs to do better. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus guy needs to change his jeans, and they should be on time. Common and help Whitney out and the rest of the people working on the photoshoot. You are just wasting their time; lame.

B) Jason dropped bombs all episode long, all involving his bitch of a tool. Oh, did I say that? Yeah, she [Katja] wanted to be as petter as possible it seemed. First Jason calls up Lauren, whyyyyyy? Oh to just be like yeah I’ve got a girlfriend now… and we’re moving in together. At least Lauren was kind enough to go to the party. Then, OH we’re engaged! FANTASTIC! Best of luck to you both and your marriage of three months.

Ummm what else. OH yeah, Heidi’s office friend that I can’t remember her name right now [Elodie?] totally rips her a new one. Thank you for saying something and being an adult. Heidi needed that slap in the face but it didn’t do a whole lot I think. Alllll well.

This was episode 8 right?

Season 3 Episode 5 - Rolling With The Enemy

Posted by: Lauren

September 3rd, 2007

I like how Heidi finds out about Lauren and Brody hanging out from her boss. Once Heidi tells Spencer that Lauren and Brody have been hanging it was like an explosion of worry, confusion and anger all in one. It looked like something so terrible had happened.
A little excitement at Les Deux between Lauren and Brody. There is a good interaction between them, Brody trying to be mature about it all and be friends with people he is friends with. I respect that.

Whitney and Lauren talk about the previous night and end with Lauren mentioning she was almost named Tiffany.
Tiffany or Crystal?
Nah, Lauren is perfect.

Justin Bobby honking to pick up Audrina in his Camino is so classic. He also doesn’t like labels, alot. That then turned into even more dislike for Lauren and her friends which sucks completely for Audrina. She’s now in such an awkward position because Justin Bobby pulls her one way and her friends the opposite.

Call between Brody and Spencer:
Spencer: “You are rolling around with my enemy that makes you are my enemy.”
Brody: …
Spencer: “I got nothing to say to you.” click.
Brody: “What a bitch.”
AWESOME.

Highlights of bits at the Roosevelt pool…
Friendly sleepover between Lauren and Brody is a little fishy. Haha

Brody: “Spencer broke up with me” … “So now me and Frankie started dating”
Haha Well at least he’s trying to at least keep his attitude up and hope the whole thing can blow over.

Breakfast with Jen…
WOW, Heidi drops a bomb mentioning that Brody was supposedly the one that spread the rumors about Lauren. That’s interesting… I wonder if that will ever get passed to Lauren somehow… that would probably hurt her pretty bad. It also looks like Heidi and Lauren will never be friends again.

Season 3 Episode 4 - Meet the Parents

Posted by: Lauren

August 28th, 2007

I wasn’t able to catch the episode while it was on so it’s waiting for my on the tivo later today. Lets get the discussion going… how was Spencers antics at the dinner with Heidi’s parents? I heard he seemed a bit childish, what do you guys think?

So Spencer heads off with Heidi to meet the family in Colorado. Pretty nerve racking… things got interesting when Heidi’s Mom starts asking about Lauren and that turned south real quick… Heidi says “I just don’t think we’ll be friends anymore.” Bummer. Whoaa the whole comment by Spencer “I want Heidi by myself” with his whole head shaking… there is a good amount of bitterness in there; and he looked funny doing it. Heidi gets back to the table and promptly puts an end to the discussion about Lauren and her. The talk between Heidi’s father and Spencer kinda seemed like Spencer didn’t know what to do… or rather just didn’t want to listen to what he was saying because he’s not thinking about if things go bad.

BBQ goodness…
Looks like lots of fun with some drama. Justin Bobby was a bit flirty with other chicks but I gotta say he’s my new favorite minor character. Pretty much the same thing as Jason in Season 1, the badass you love to hate. But leaving her at the end of the night sucks. Just leaving the helmet on the table was a pretty dick move. Good to hear she is done with him… yet in the preview for episode 5 Audrina says she is having dinner with him. I guess we’ll see how that goes. Brody broke his finger, kinda funny but sucks it turned out so bad. The little scuffle between him and Lauren seems like there is definitely going to be more to their friendship in the future. Whitney was absent from the party yet Lo was there and as you all know and probably agree with me that Lo is great.

Overall this episode was good but it looks like the next episode will be even better. Looks like Spencer is going to break up with Brody. haha I guess we’ll see next week.

Season 3 Episode 3 The Evaluation

Posted by: Lauren

August 21st, 2007

This was a big Audrina episode as things with Justin Bobby heat up… or fizzle away. Lauren starts off with a good quote, “Go with your heart but use your head.” Lauren meets Audrina and Justin Bobby for drinks which turned out more of a undercover fight rather than a “get to know each other” drinks. It looked mainly awkward because basically Booby Justin doesn’t give a care. He does what he wants which comes off as rude. Another statement of the night… Audrina asks Lauren if she thinks Justin Bobby is a good guy… Lauren responds, “It takes more than a couple drinks to tell.” HAHA When they decide to leave it’s weird and things didn’t seem to go so well. “It is what it is.”

Things with Spencer and Heidi are getting a bit complicated since Spencer just seems to do whatever when it comes to the apartment. It’s looking more like a bachelor pad than anything. Things are building up and will probably explode in some type of fight soon… maybe Spencer will cheat on her again. That would get some good ratings even though it sucks for Heidi. In the beginning of the episode Heidi shows off her huge ring to her co-worker and we get a little more details into their engagement. Towards the end of the episode Spencer calls all of the things he gets for the apartment “surprises.” Married life is going to be rough…

Audrina and Lauren have a little talk about Justin Bobby… it seems as thought Audrina doesn’t want to let him go but kinda knows she should. Lo makes another appearance which is great. Lo is always awesome.

The end of the episode with Heidi painting over the mural in the apartment was great. She’s like “surprise!” and he is livid. I gotta give to Spencer though, he took it in stride and after their little scuffle finished painting over it. Nice ending… kinda like a new beginning. We’ll see what comes of that wall soon enough.

As always… leave your thoughts.

Season 3 Episode 2 - Big Girls Don’t Cry

Posted by: Lauren

August 16th, 2007

I hope you are all as happy as I am that Audrina is a bigger part of the show. She was virtually absent last season. Now we get to follow her around and her escapades. This time it was her date with Justin the dude from her past who also abandoned her in Las Vegas. Lo popped up for a little part of the show I haven’t seen Lo on tv for a long time. She’s the best. Back to Justin aka “Bobby Justin.” or “Justin Bobby” but I like Bobby Justin better so we’ll use that instead.

Totally awkward moment between Audrina and Lauren when they were supposed to go out after Audrina and Bobby Justins dinner date. That sucked but what are ya gonna do… sometimes you gotta do what you feel and hope your friends are alright.

Onto other things… I appreciate Brody Jennings saying “I’m not stupid enough to get married at 23, you are.” Spencer then proceeded to purchase “some bling” and ripped up the receipt and gave it back saying “no returning this.” Then the big romantic weekend came and we got to see the rather simple and not so romantic proposal on the beach. It just didn’t seem like that amazing of a moment watching it on tv, I’m sure it was for them.
So now, Heidi and Spencer are engaged. Congrats I think.

Audrina is having a tough time deciding on a boyfriend. Its pretty crazy that she’s been single for so long. Go for it Audrina, it’ll only hurt for so long if things go bad but it could be good.

Perfect ending to the show - except for Lauren being single. Nice montage of all the ‘couples,’ Audrina had Bobby Justin, Heidi and Spencer. Now Lauren has to find a guy to make her life just a hectic as the rest.

What do you guys think about Heidi and Spencer getting engaged?

Season 3 Episode 1 - “You Know What You Did”

Posted by: Lauren

August 14th, 2007

First lets mention the rumors of Heidi and Jason’s “sextape” Well there is none supposedly so we can all move on. I didn’t hear those rumors when they came out awhile ago because I was too busy neglecting this blog. Sorry about that. I am working on a redesign and updating this with everything about The Hills. If you hear anything make sure to let me know.
Anyways onto the first episode.
Audrina mentions those rumors that Spencer & Heidi have been spreading rumors “Lauren is nothing without Heidi.” HAHAHA What about this whole tv show?!?

Girls night out at Les Deux was great. Lauren is nice and drunk mentioning the “Jackpot” of the dude from London who is leaving the next day. They apparently made out alot which is great. Lauren having fun in the show is the good part there. Turns out the girls pre-partied which is always good when you’re looking to have an eventful night and terrible morning. We got to see Lauren in her slightly hungover state. Remember kids, drinking is bad when you drink too much. “Too” is different for everybody so you get to find that out for yourself. HAHA. Audrina totally hooked it up with Justin (you know the guy from her past) and got home at 6 am. Niiiiicceee.

Frankie’s birthday party at Les Deux the next day (or whenever it was) was alooot of pure drama.
“At this point I have no intention of being there for her.” said Lauren before heading out. Perfect setup… thank you.
Heidi gives Lauren “the letter” and well all hell breaks loose. It needed to happen… no more behind the back stuff. Lots of yelling between Heidi and Lauren definitely made it the most exciting part of the show. I’m happy that some words were said between them. Anyways comments like this were somewhat unneeded, “Good friends came” says Spencer in regards to the house warming party. Come on dude. But whatevs.

I must say that this season’s premiere seemed alot more drama filled than season 2’s

Thanks for the feedback… keep it coming, anything important I miss?

March 27th, 2007

This site is terribly outdated - my fault. Things happen, but here is my kinda catch up.

Lets start off with Spencer because it’s too easy. He’s managed to stick around and weasel his way into Heidi’s life again. Lets get past that for now.

How about some words about Emily, or rather as Lauren calls her “Super Emily.” I couldn’t think of a better name for her. Super Emily is also Whitney’s main competition for the job opening at Teen Vogue. That’s pretty stiff competition especially since Emily gets to model one of the dresses. Uhh ohh. BUT WAIT. Andre Leon Tally EDITOR AT LARGE of Teen Vogue likes Whitney and thinks she should model. Emily looks all kinds of worried. So Whitney gets Hillary Swanks dress and looks really really good and gets to model it. TAKE THAT SUPER EMILY.

… I gotta head to class right quick, more in a couple hours.
